Ricard Estay is a photographer, artist and writer who grew up in Fittja, Stockholm (Sweden), with roots from Chile. He is using visual storytelling and poetry to create complex portraits of both physical and mental places. He has previously released four books and works in the borderland between literature, poetry, photography, film and art. He often moves between fiction, memories and depictions of segregated cities.
In one of his latest photo and text based project “En gång i betongen” (Once Upon a Time in the Outskirts) from 2019, the perspective is presented from within a place that is rarely given its own voice.
In addition to his own practice, he has been freelancing since 2008 in various media rolls. Since 2015 he has been working for the Public Art Agency Sweden as a photographer and filmmaker, documenting contemporary public art in Sweden.
